What is Overhead and profit (O&P)?
Definition. An allowance added to an estimate to pay a general contractor for coordinating the job and earning a reasonable margin, often calculated as 10 percent overhead plus 10 percent profit. Insurers commonly include it when a loss requires several trades to be coordinated. Whether it is owed on a roof only job is a frequent point of dispute. See overhead and profit on roof claims.
