Where can you get roof insurance claim assistance?
Your roofing contractor
A good roofer inspects and photographs the damage, measures the roof, writes a repair scope, meets the adjuster on the roof, compares the insurer's estimate with what the job requires, and submits supplements with evidence. There is usually no separate fee for this help. What a contractor cannot do in Georgia is negotiate the claim on your behalf the way a public adjuster does.
A licensed public adjuster
Public adjusters work for you, not the insurer, and can negotiate the claim. They are paid a percentage of the settlement, so they make the most sense on large or complex claims where the potential increase outweighs the fee. Confirm the license through the Georgia Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner. See public adjuster versus roofer.
An attorney
If a claim is wrongly denied, unreasonably delayed, or stuck in a dispute that appraisal cannot solve, a Georgia attorney who handles property insurance can explain your options, including bad faith claims. See Georgia bad faith rules.
The state insurance office
The Georgia Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner takes consumer complaints at no cost and can prompt an insurer to respond. It does not act as your lawyer or decide coverage. See how to file a complaint.
Which to start with
For most roof claims, start with a reputable roofer's inspection and documentation. Escalate to a public adjuster or attorney only if the claim is large, denied, or stalled after you have provided solid evidence.
