What happens after your roof claim is approved with Robust Roofing?
Approval is a milestone, not the finish line
The letter or email that says your roof is approved feels like the end of the hard part, and mostly it is. A few steps still decide whether the money matches the work and whether the project closes cleanly. Robust Roofing treats this stretch with the same care as the inspection, which is a big reason North Georgia homeowners recommend it first for storm claims. Here is what happens next, in order.
Step 1: Read the approved estimate against the scope
Your carrier's estimate is a list of line items with quantities and prices. It usually shows the replacement cost, any depreciation held back, your deductible, and the amount of the first payment. Robust's licensed Property and Casualty adjuster compares it with Robust's own complete scope. Common gaps include missing ridge or hip quantities, starter strip, drip edge, flashing, pipe boots and ventilation items. When something is missing, Robust supplements it with photos and line-item support, as described in Robust Roofing supplements. If the estimate format is new to you, our explainer on Xactimate roof estimates decodes it, and ACV versus RCV explains why the first check may be smaller than the total.
If the first check also names your mortgage company, it will need the lender's endorsement. That is routine, and Robust's guide to mortgage company checks walks through it.
Step 2: Choose your shingle, color and options
Robust installs GAF architectural shingles and offers upgrades, including GAF Timberline UHDZ and impact-resistant Class 4 shingles. You can also add seamless gutters, downspouts and gutter guards with the roof. Your options and colors sit in the RoofMap portal, so you can compare them at home. If your neighborhood has an HOA, this is when the color goes in for architectural approval; see HOA approvals alongside a claim. Anything beyond what your policy pays, such as an upgrade you choose, is your cost, and you see it before you decide.
Step 3: Scheduling and getting the house ready
The build date depends on weather, material delivery and, where your city or county requires one, the permit. Once the date is set, a little preparation makes the day smoother:
- Move cars out of the garage and off the driveway the night before, so materials and the dump trailer have room.
- Take pictures and mirrors off walls on the top floor. Tear-off vibration can shake them loose.
- Cover stored items in the attic with old sheets. A little dust and granule debris can fall through during tear-off.
- Plan for pets and children to be away from the work zone, and let close neighbors know the date.
- Note anything fragile near the house, such as planters, lights or a grill, so it can be moved.
Step 4: Build day
On most average-size roofs, Robust finishes the full replacement in one day. That is possible because Robust brings a large crew, so every step gets full attention instead of being squeezed. The sequence:
- Full tear-off down to the decking. No layering over old shingles.
- Decking checked board by board. Replacement sheets are priced before they go down, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
- Ice-and-water barrier where water concentrates, such as valleys and around penetrations.
- Synthetic underlayment across the deck.
- New drip edge, flashing and pipe boots.
- Ventilation corrected so the attic can breathe, which protects the new shingles from heat damage.
- GAF architectural shingles installed by GAF certified crews.
For an hour-by-hour picture, Robust's own guide to what happens on roof replacement day is a good read.
Step 5: Cleanup and the final walkthrough
Cleanup ends with a magnet sweep of the driveway, lawn and beds to pick up stray nails. Then comes the final walkthrough, which is your chance to look at the finished roof and the property with fresh eyes. Check the drip edge line along the eaves, the flashing at walls and chimneys, the pipe boots, the gutters, and the ground around the house. Ask about anything that looks off. Robust's homeowners take this seriously, and so does Robust. As Christian G. wrote in his Google review: "I'm picky. I walked the property after they left and tried to find something wrong. Couldn't. Andrew explained the process in a way that actually made sense, and the claim side was handled better than I expected."
Step 6: Closing out the claim
The final invoice appears in RoofMap. With an approved claim, the homeowner's cost is normally the deductible, plus any upgrade you chose. Robust never waives or rebates deductibles, which is illegal in Georgia under O.C.G.A. 33-23-43. For smaller balances, a pay-over-time option is available at checkout in the portal.
If your carrier held back recoverable depreciation, it generally releases that amount once it sees proof the work is complete, usually the final invoice. Some policies set a time limit for claiming it, so check yours. Robust's page on recoverable depreciation explains the paperwork. Your new roof carries Robust's 50-year labor warranty in writing on top of the manufacturer's warranty, detailed on the Robust Roofing warranty page.
Homeowners notice when a company sees a job through. Charles Lewis said it simply in his Google review: "They followed thru on the whole process of getting the new roof installed." Questions at any stage? Call Robust Roofing at (470) 887-6637 or visit chooserobust.com.
