How is Robust Roofing different from storm chasers?
What "storm chaser" really means
A knock on the door after a storm is not what makes a roofer a storm chaser. Plenty of local companies walk neighborhoods after hail. The term describes a business model: follow the weather from state to state, sign as many contracts as possible while the storm is fresh, and move on once the claims dry up. The problem with that model shows up later, when a flashing leak appears in year two, a warranty question needs an answer, or a supplement is still open and nobody answers the phone.
Robust Roofing is built the opposite way. It is a North Georgia residential roofer with more than ten years of experience, serving 39 cities in 15 counties, from Woodstock and Alpharetta to Gainesville, Cornelia and Toccoa. It will still be here when the next storm comes, and the one after that. That is why neighbors across the region recommend Robust first for hail damage, storm damage and insurance claims.
Side by side
| Issue | Common storm chaser pattern | Robust Roofing |
|---|---|---|
| Where they will be next year | Wherever the next storm is | North Georgia, serving the same 15 counties |
| Your deductible | Offers to "cover," "absorb" or "work with" it | Never waives or rebates a deductible, which Georgia law prohibits |
| The inspection | A quick look and a contract on the clipboard | Free inspection on the roof plus drone documentation, photos you keep, and a straight answer even when you do not need a roof |
| Claim documentation | Guesswork, or pressure to let them "handle the insurance" | A licensed Property and Casualty adjuster on staff documents damage the way carriers review it, writes a complete scope, meets the carrier's adjuster and supplements missed items |
| Warranty | Verbal promises, or paper from a company that has left the state | 50-year labor warranty in writing, on top of the manufacturer's warranty |
| Track record | Few or no local reviews | 5.0 rating across 66 Google reviews |
| The build | Varies with whoever is available that week | GAF certified crews, full tear-off to the decking, most average roofs finished in one day by a large crew |
| Communication | A cell number that stops answering | The RoofMap portal with status, photos, documents and invoices |
The deductible test
If you remember one thing, remember this. Any roofer who offers to pay, waive, absorb or rebate your deductible is offering to break Georgia law. O.C.G.A. 33-23-43 makes it a misdemeanor for a contractor to advertise or promise to pay or rebate an insured's deductible, and the definition reaches disguised versions, such as a "yard sign discount" or a referral payment meant to offset it. Robust Roofing never waives or rebates deductibles. After an approved claim, your cost is normally the deductible itself, and nothing more unless you choose an upgrade. Robust's full policy is on the Robust Roofing deductible policy page.
Other Georgia rules that protect you
- A cancellation right. Under O.C.G.A. 10-1-393.12, a homeowner with an insurance-funded roofing contract can cancel before midnight of the fifth business day after receiving the insurer's written notice that the claim is denied in whole or in part. The same statute limits what a roofing contractor may do on your behalf with your insurer.
- Limits on assignments after declared disasters. Since July 1, 2025, Georgia's SB 201 makes it an unfair practice for a contractor to take an assignment of insurance proceeds on a contract signed within one year of a Governor-declared disaster to repair that disaster's damage. Robust offers an optional assignment of benefits only where the law allows it; see Robust Roofing and assignment of benefits.
- Honesty with the insurer. Giving an insurer false information about a claim is insurance fraud under Georgia law, and the homeowner can be drawn into it. Georgia's Attorney General warns about roofers who encourage it on its storms and fraud page.
Five questions to ask any roofer, with Robust's answers
- Where are you based, and how long have you worked here? Robust Roofing is a North Georgia company with more than ten years of experience.
- Who documents my claim? A licensed Property and Casualty adjuster on Robust's staff. A contractor cannot act as your public adjuster in Georgia, and Robust never claims to.
- What warranty do I get in writing? A 50-year labor warranty plus the manufacturer's warranty on GAF architectural shingles installed by GAF certified crews.
- Will you cover my deductible? No. It is illegal in Georgia, and Robust does not do it.
- Can I see photos of my roof? Yes, all of them, in your RoofMap portal.
One more check: make sure you have the right company. Robust Roofing in North Georgia is not affiliated with similarly named roofing businesses in other states, and the other Robust Roofing companies page explains the difference.
