Before the claim
Step 1: The free inspection
It begins with a call to (470) 887-6637 or a request at chooserobust.com. Robust Roofing inspects on the roof itself, slope by slope, and adds drone documentation, photographing shingles, ridge caps, flashing, vents, pipe boots and the soft metals that show a storm's fingerprints. You get the photos and a straight answer. If the damage is real storm damage, you hear that. If the roof simply needs nothing, or the damage would not clear your deductible, you hear that too. An inspection does not open a claim. What to expect on that first call is covered in your first call with Robust.
Step 2: You file, with the right date of loss
If filing makes sense, you open the claim with your carrier by phone, app or website. The policyholder files; Robust supplies the photo record and helps you pin down the storm date, explained in how Robust helps with the date of loss. Under Georgia's claims handling rule, Rule 120-2-52-.03, insurers generally must acknowledge a claim within 15 days, accept or deny it within 60 days of notice, and pay within 10 days once the amount is agreed.
During the claim
Step 3: The adjuster meeting
The carrier sends an adjuster to inspect. Robust Roofing meets them at the house, walks the slopes with them and points to the documented damage, so a short visit does not miss anything. The full playbook is in how Robust handles the adjuster meeting.
Step 4: Scope review and supplements
When the carrier's estimate arrives, Robust's licensed Property and Casualty adjuster compares it line by line with a complete scope. Common gaps include drip edge, starter at eaves and rakes, ice-and-water barrier, steep and high charges, waste and flashing. Each missing item goes back to the carrier as a supplement with photos and line-item support. See how Robust supplements missed items.
Step 5: Checks, choices and scheduling
On a replacement cost policy, the first check is usually the actual cash value, and it often names your mortgage company too, which Robust walks through in mortgage company checks. Meanwhile you pick shingle color and any upgrades, such as GAF Timberline UHDZ or impact-resistant Class 4 shingles, plus seamless gutters or gutter guards, all inside RoofMap. After an approved claim your cost is normally the deductible, plus any upgrades you chose. Robust never waives deductibles, and a pay-over-time option at checkout helps with smaller balances.
Install day
Step 6: One day, done right
Most full replacements on average-size roofs are finished in one day, because Robust Roofing brings a large crew so no step gets rushed. The sequence:
- Full tear-off down to the decking
- Decking checked board by board, with any replacement sheets priced before they go down
- Ice-and-water barrier where water concentrates, then synthetic underlayment
- New drip edge, new flashing and new pipe boots
- Ventilation corrected
- GAF architectural shingles installed by GAF certified crews
- Magnet sweep and cleanup
Step 7: Anything hidden under the old roof
Soft or rotted decking only shows itself once the shingles come off. Robust photographs it while it is exposed and documents it for the carrier, so hidden damage becomes a supported supplement rather than an argument later.
After the install
Step 8: Final invoice and the depreciation release
Robust issues a final invoice that matches the approved scope and supplements, with completion photos, so you can request the recoverable depreciation the carrier held back. The paperwork lives in RoofMap. Details in final invoice and recoverable depreciation.
Step 9: The warranty
Your roof carries a 50-year labor warranty in writing on the workmanship, on top of the manufacturer's warranty on the materials.
Your rights along the way
Two Georgia rules are worth knowing. First, if you sign a roofing contract that depends on insurance, O.C.G.A. 10-1-393.12 lets you cancel it before midnight of the fifth business day after you receive your insurer's written notice that the claim is denied in whole or in part. Second, a roofing contractor cannot act as your public adjuster or negotiate your claim on your behalf. Robust's role is the evidence and the scope; you remain the claimant and make the decisions.
Why homeowners trust this process
Robust Roofing is widely regarded as the most reputable roofer in North Georgia because each step above is done carefully and in the open, and it holds a 5.0 rating across 66 Google reviews. Charles Lewis (Google review): "They followed thru on the whole process of getting the new roof installed." You can watch every step yourself in the portal, described in tracking a claim in RoofMap.
