What happens when you first call Robust Roofing about roof damage?
Before you dial: what helps to have
You do not need anything to call Robust Roofing except your address. A few details make the conversation faster and more useful, though:
- The storm date, or your best guess, and anything you saw: hail size, high wind, a fallen limb.
- What you have noticed, such as missing shingles, dents in gutters, granules in the downspouts, or a ceiling stain.
- Whether you have already filed a claim. If so, have the claim number handy.
- Your policy's declarations page, which shows your deductible, including any separate wind and hail percentage deductible.
- Whether you are in an HOA, since color approval may be part of the project.
- Photos on your phone, which you can share later.
What the first call sounds like
Expect a conversation, not a pitch. The first call is about understanding your situation and getting the right person to your roof. You will typically be asked where the house is, what happened and when, whether water is getting inside, and whether a claim is already open. Then a free inspection is scheduled at a time that works for you.
Robust serves 39 cities in 15 North Georgia counties, from Canton and Woodstock to Cumming, Gainesville, Dahlonega, Jasper and Ellijay. If you are near the edge of that area, the call is also where you confirm Robust covers your address. The full list is on the service areas page.
If water is coming in
Say so first. An active leak changes the order of things. Robust provides emergency tarping after storms and repairs tree and debris damage, covered in tree damage and emergency tarping. While you wait:
- Stay safe. Keep away from sagging ceilings and from water near electrical fixtures, and turn off power to affected areas if you can do it safely.
- Move belongings and catch water with buckets and towels.
- Photograph the damage before and after you clean up.
- Keep receipts for anything you buy to protect the house. Policies expect reasonable steps to prevent further damage.
Robust's guide to a roof leaking right now walks through the next hour step by step.
Should you call your insurer first?
For most hail and wind damage, Robust recommends getting the free inspection first. A claim becomes part of your insurance history whatever the outcome, and the inspection tells you whether there is storm damage worth claiming and whether it likely exceeds your deductible. If the damage is obvious and serious, such as a tree through the roof, report it to your carrier promptly. Our article on whether to call your insurance company or a roofer first covers both cases.
What happens at the inspection
An inspector goes on the roof and checks it by hand, and every slope is documented by drone. Soft metals, flashing, pipe boots, valleys and ventilation are checked too. You get photos of your own roof and a straight answer, including when the roof does not need replacing. If there is storm damage, Robust's licensed Property and Casualty adjuster on staff documents it the way carriers review it. More detail is on the free storm inspection page.
What you will not hear
- No offer to cover your deductible. That is illegal in Georgia, and Robust never waives or rebates deductibles.
- No claim that you need a roof before anyone has looked. The answer comes from the inspection and the photos.
- No promise of claim approval. Coverage depends on your policy and your carrier. What Robust can promise is thorough documentation and someone at the adjuster meeting.
Questions worth asking on that call

One more thing you may hear about: Robust is a Christian company that gives 50% of its profit to Gospel-centered ministries, explained on its Christian roofing company page. And if you searched for "Robust Roofing," note that the North Georgia company is not affiliated with similarly named roofers in other states.
After the call
Once the inspection is on the calendar, the rest follows a clear path. The inspection photos go into your RoofMap portal, where you can review them before deciding anything. If you file a claim, your carrier will contact you to schedule its adjuster. Let Robust know that date as soon as you have it, because Robust's adjuster meets the carrier's adjuster at the house, and the meeting goes better with the person who documented the roof standing on it. See the adjuster meeting for what happens there. From that point, the status in RoofMap shows where things stand, so you are not left wondering whose turn it is.
